Ballantine Hall Coal Mural

November 2, 2009

The Visual Arts Events Committee chalked a mural on Ballantine Hall last week exposing IU’s connection with dirty coal energy. Reading “Coal = Death” and “Your campus is powered by Coal”, the mural paints the connection between coal pollution being emitted at the Central Heating Plant on 11th & Fee Lane and the negative impacts on our environment and public health. Denouncing the existence of coal-lobby invented “clean coal” (FMI: Check out Clean Coal–The Dirty Lie), the mural calls for IU students to take a stand. Right now coal may power this campus, but it doesn’t have to.

Sign our petition or contact us (coalfreeiu@gmail.com) to learn how to get IU beyond coal!
